In February 2022, The Female Lead polled tens of thousands of people to find out their attitudes towards social media. The survey reveals that most people are aware of the negative impact of social media on their well-being and self-esteem.

To mitigate this negative impact, our ground-breaking campaign - Disrupt Your Feed - proves that social media can also be a source of inspiration and career motivation.
But to achieve this, we must take the lead in our own social media feeds to ensure a balanced and healthy mix of content.

The University of College London has created a Female Lead Society for those who are hoping to contribute to the promotion of an ever-growing and inclusive feminism!
They are organising online workshops, conferences and socials around the following themes: Women in the Workplace, Mental Health and Disability, Men in Feminism, LGBTQI+ and Intersectional Feminism.

WHAT IS THE FEMALE LEAD SOCIETY?
The Female Lead Society is an exciting platform for young women to meet with the purpose of fostering curiosity, drive and courage in each other.
It’s about working together to discuss the challenges young women face. It is a stance against low expectations, self-doubt, inequality and prejudice. It’s about confronting gender bias by demonstrating you are not shaped by your biology for a pre-set role in society but can determine your personal destiny.

The Female Lead Society is a safe place to talk. All members have a voice and support and listen to each other, to encourage each other to have high aspirations.
The young women are each other’s mentors and role models. They learn from each other and about each other.

We firmly believe that Seeing Is Believing and that one simple way that we can change women’s futures is by introducing young women to positive and diverse role models, earlier in their lives, before key decisions about their futures are made.
While we have made some encouraging first steps, we recognise the need to do more, and that's why we have created The Female Lead Society - a community of young women in schools across the globe.
We meet, ask questions and discuss what it takes to for us to live happy and successful lives, and how we can improve the lives of all women.

£8,000 - the estimated pay gap between male and female graduates in the UK
Only 29% of the FTSE 100 board positions are held by women and less than 7% of world leaders are women
